Also on Fidalgo Island, this bay is a great place for kayaks and model sailboats. There are great places for picnics and lots of trails for hiking, a few of which have views of Deception Pass Bridge.
The Deception Pass Bridge from Hoypus Point, a short hike from Cornet Bay on the north side of the bridge. It is one of a few spots where both spans of the bridge can be seen from the east.
A drive to Artist Point at the Mt. Baker ski area was a frequent summer day trip for my family. This view of Mt. Shuksan is just one of the many awesome scenes. Now, the area is so popular it is difficult to find a parking space. Go midweek and early in the morning.
Taking the short hike to Hoypus Point in the Deception Pass State Park is always rewarding, especially near sunset. This location is populated with photographers at the spring and fall equinoxes when the sun sets directly under the large span of the bridge.
The North Cascades with Maylor's Point at the left and Camano Island at the right. I was on Channel Lane, Whidbey Island, for this view at the end of February.
The view of the Olympic Mountains just after sunrise from the entrance to the Joseph Whidbey State Park on the west side of Whidbey Island on February 23.
There is a serene pond and an inspiring fountain in the sunken area of the gardens. One can enjoy these areas in the morning but by mid-day the crowds of people make them less peaceful.
