Last weekend I went to Anacortes on Fidalgo Island. Cap Sante is a rise above the marina. Here is a panorama of the view to the east. Mt. Baker is in the distance with Fidalgo Bay in the foreground. At the right is March Point with a refinery.
At the north end of Whidbey Island is the Deception Pass Bridge, connecting Whidbey to Fidalgo Island. It is one of the most visited state parks in Washington State.
Mt. Baker still has a full coat of snow as it overlooks Oak Harbor. The Roller Barn at lower left is an original from farming days. I remember roller skating parties in the 50s. Now it is used for community youth activities.
We have had an unusually cool spring this year so the tulips have yet to burst upon the Skagit Valley. In my own yard, however, yellow tulips brave the chilly temperatures.
The Cascade Mountains to the east are the scene for some awesome sunrises. The sunrise can be the product of an early morning mist, lending an sense of peace.
