October 19 & 20, 2010 sunrises

The sunrises the last two mornings have been wonderful.  I take advantage of the good view near my home at this time of the year.

I felt the crunch of frost under my feet as I was taking this photograph.  That means we are officially in an "Indian summer" now.  First Reformed Church is in the foreground.

A lone kayaker was out late.

The swirling clouds were intriguing.

The outline of the Olympic Mountains remained long after the sun had gone.

This is a thumbnail of a compilation of five shots taken a few days ago.  I stationed myself on Freund's Hill, at the west side of Oak Harbor.  On the horizon are the North Cascade Mountains.  In the foreground are parts of NAS Whidbey, Oak Harbor Bay, and the city of Oak Harbor, WA.

It was a foggy day!

The bridge had a beauty of its own, however.

We did see harbor seals and heron.  A delightful (if damp) day.

September 24 & 25

The sunset last night was one with very unusual cloud formations.  This morning the sun put on a show too.  After catching the sunrise, I turned around and spotted the moon peeking between the trees.
