Sun dog rainbow

This sundog rainbow was visible on a recent late afternoon. Caused when light is refracted by ice crystals, this is the longest one I've ever seen.

Hope for the end of rain

The reflections in the puddles this morning gave hope of blue sky on the way.  Could this be the end of our above average rainfall?

Sunday Afternoon Stroll

A great place for a Sunday afternoon stroll.  This is the west side of Whidbey Island, near Joseph Whidbey State Park.  The Olympic Mountains are to the south.

Sentinel to Spring

A lone crocus gives evidence to spring in a neglected yard. 

I took away the color around the crocus to highlight the single flower.  The rest of the garden was so drab, obviously ignored.  I wanted to somehow convey the feeling I had when I saw it.

Spring Snow on the Foothills

It is Mar 23, isn't it?  Yet there is lots of snow on the foothills.  Spring is here, but so is snow!  This photo was taken from the east side of Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island.

Budding Signs of Spring

Spring is here and the trees are beginning to leaf out.


Taking a photo towards the sun is always interesting and adds a little life to the image.

Olympic Mountains from Whidbey Island

It may be spring but the Olympics show off their new dusting of snow.  I took this photo this morning near Joseph Whidbey State Park on Whidbey Island.
