The view of Oak Harbor Bay this afternoon from Pioneer Way. Smoke was in the air.

Smoke Filled View

Smoke has descended on Whidbey Island. I was a little over a mile away from Maylor's Point this morning to catch this view. Oak Harbor Bay did not have a ripple. Though it was after sunrise, the sun had not yet shown itself.

Sunset Rays - in the East

I increased the contrast to the maximum in this photo to show the rays of reflected sunlight coming from the lower left. This view is to the east! There are a number of houses on Camano Island and the sun was reflecting off their windows, causing the rays.

Sunset Clouds

The clouds had an unusual color cast at sunset today. Is it just me or do some of the clouds look like people walking to the right in the photo below?

Soaring in the Clouds

This eagle was soaring so high he appeared to be a mere speck in the sky. I'm glad I had a telephoto lens.

Light - April 2

This morning view reminded me of the significance of the previous day, Easter. I was at my neighbor's yard in Oak Harbor.

Clouds - March 24

As a Whidbey Islander I am used to a nondescript grey canopy.
I was fascinated by the recent, well defined clouds on March 24.

Cloud Art

Sometimes the clouds just amaze me, as in this view to the north on June 2.

Mammatus clouds

Mammatus clouds rolling over Oak Harbor this afternoon. There are predictions of thunderstorms, usually associated with these clouds.

Mammatus Clouds

The mamma clouds were short lived over Oak Harbor this morning. Most clouds form in rising air while these form in dropping air.

Cloud Art

I caught some mammatus (mammatocumulus) clouds the morning of February 21. The sagging pouch-like clouds lasted just a few minutes and evened out quickly. Below is a photo I took in December of 2014.

Mushroom Clouds

This is not a cloud from an atomic bomb. It was one of many unusual cloud formations December 29. A temperature inversion was predicted.
I took these photos from the parking lot of the Sno-Isle Library in Oak Harbor.

God's Chariot

"O Lord my God, how great you are!
You make the clouds your chariot;
you ride upon the wings of the wind."
Psalm 104:1b, 3b. NLT
I read these verses Sunday and seeing the clouds yesterday, I just had to put them together.
