Isaac Ebey House and Blockhouse

Ebey arrived on Whidbey in 1850 and completed the house in 1856. The blockhouse is one of four that remain in the area today. This view of the historical buildings and the Olympics is just a short walk from the Prairie Overlook parking area near the Coupeville cemetery on Whidbey Island.

Mt. Baker from Coupeville

I was at Captain Coupe Park on the east side of Coupeville last week to catch Mt. Baker with new snow from the "winter" storm we had a few days ago.

Ebey Historical Reserve and Mount Rainier

Another great place to hike on Whidbey Island is from the Prairie Overlook at the Coupeville cemetery to the bluff. The trail is relatively level and the views spectacular, like this one. You can see Mt. Rainier, shown here, Mt. Baker and the Olympics from this trail. You also pass by the Ebey House which has great displays full of historical information on the area.

Mt. Rainier from Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve

This is one of my favorite places to hike. From this location one can see Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, the Cascades, and the Olympics. Yes, those are really the high rise buildings of Seattle near the right end of the horizon. This location is about a half a mile from the Prairie Overlook parking lot (near Coupeville) and the hike to the bluff is nearly level.

Mt. Baker from Coupeville

This is the view from the turn around at the end of Reeder Road, east of Coupeville. Snakelum Point is at the right with Mt. Baker in the distance.
