Perch with a View

I spotted this heron atop a tall snag on a recent walk in Freund's March.

Deception Pass boat tour, part 4

The boat made stops so we could see the local critters, like these Great Blue Heron.
We also saw harbor seals.
What we didn't see but so many fishermen hoped were there - salmon. These hopeful fishermen are on North Beach, the same beach upon which Joseph Whidbey camped.

Eagle and Heron on the Beach

I was out to the beach early and saw several birds looking for their breakfast.  This eagle did not stay put very long.
I saw one heron nearby.
And then I saw the rest of them down the beach.  At the time I took this photo, I did not even see the eagle on the rocks (center bottom).  He was the one flying by in the first photo.
