Having spent Christmas Eve with one sister, I was spending Christmas Day with my other sister in Belling-
ham. I decided to take the Bayview Edison Road to Chuckanut Drive.
When I came to the flat farm land, there were eagles every-where.
I saw both mature and young.
I think I lost count some-where around twenty five.
I saw more eagles on Christmas than I ever have up on the Skagit River.

It's been way too cloudy the last few days so I went back to a photo I took September 12. The sun was setting right over Smith Island. The Olympic Peninsula is at the left. I was on the west side of Whidbey Island at, aptly named, Sunset Beach.
Mt. Baker was sporting a new covering of snow last Sunday, December 14th, in the afternoon sun. I was southwest of Oak Harbor, on a street off Scenic Heights Road.
Even on cloudy days the Olympic Mountains break through from time to time as in this view overlooking San de Fuca and Penn Cove.
On a cloudy and stormy day like today, here's a reminder of just last week. I was on the west side of Oak Harbor, capturing the North Cascades.
There are many places on Whidbey Island where one can relax and enjoy the view of mountains and sea. One is at the end of Hastie Lake Road, a public access area on the west side of the island. You could enjoy the morning view of the Olympics, as I did, or come back in the evening for awesome sunsets.
This is the view from above the Sno-Isle Library parking lot in east Oak Harbor, the view many have from the navy housing on the hill. This is looking southwest, across Oak Harbor Bay. The city of Oak Harbor is at the right. The Olympic Mountains are above the area called Scenic Heights.

Clear weather has returned. The North Cascades are on the horizon with fog in Saratoga Passage. I was on the west side of Oak Harbor.
Two storms came through Whidbey in the last couple of days, leaving over an inch of rain. Some drains are not doing their job, as shown here in a parking lot.
There was an unusual, very high tide yesterday morning.

The southern foothills of Mt. Baker caught the afternoon sun as I was on the Guemes Channel Trail on Fidalgo Island. The weather was not the best that day so I definitely plan to go on that trail again.
I was on Fidalgo Island recently and decided to check out the Guemes Channel Trail, just east of the Anacortes ferry dock.
It's a very nice trail and I'll be returning on a sunny day as there are beautiful views of the ferry and Mt. Baker.

The conditions were just right for this view of Mt. Rainier before sunrise from the west side of Oak Harbor. The mountain is around 90 miles away and often cannot be clearly seen.
