There were many more people parked by the side of the road getting pics of the snow geese than the daffodils.

Hundreds of the many snow geese wintering in Skagit Valley.

We saw these yesterday in fields near the Snow Goose Produce stand (closed for the winter).

Foothill Snow - December 25

While this photo is from Christmas Day, I noticed the Cascade foothills have another dusting of snow today. Skagit Valley farmland.

Drive by tulip fields Skagit Valley

In years past, RoozenGaarde had separate fields one could drive to and photograph. Your entrance ticket to RoozenGaarde got you into the remote fields too. This year I was waved away from one field, being informed it was closed. I did drive by this field and was able to photograph it from the road. The other fields I saw had already been cut.

The best part of my visit to RoozenGaarde was the display gardens. They were amazing. I finally had my rainbow of colors.

I'm glad I was wearing boots. The mud in the fields was particularly sticky.

I saw many children enjoying the puddles.

The bands of color in the field were very broad, generally 30 or more rows wide.

The fields were a distance from the display gardens.

The arrangement of the colors at times almost hurt my eyes.

The tulip field was a short walk from the display hall at Tulip Town.

Rather than a rainbow of colors, some of the field seemed to clash.

This has been an odd season. Some of the tulips were fully spent while others, shown here, had not even bloomed yet.

I finally made it to the tulip fields in Skagit Valley.

I was a little disappointed in the color arrangement of the rows.

Spring Clouds

The spring has been cool and cloudy, delaying the tulip blossoms in Skagit Valley.

Snow Geese on Fir Island

Snow geese last week, wintering on Fir Island in Skagit County with the Olympics peaking out of the clouds in the distance.

I noticed many workers cutting the flowers as I drove through the fields a few days ago.
