Cascade Dawn

A couple of photos of the sunrise yesterday morning from the west side of Oak Harbor.
These were taken with my iPod as I did not have my Nikon with me.

"Super" Lunar Eclipse September 27, 2015

These are a few photos from the lunar eclipse last night. I caught a helicopter flying by on this first exposure of several seconds.
This photo is right at the end of totality.

Smith Island Lighthouse

The lighthouse on this small island between Whidbey and Vancouver Islands is now automated but was maintained by a family decades ago. My father would tell stories of kids having to row a boat to Whidbey to catch a ride to school. The kids would stay with families on Whidbey during stormy weather.

Spiders Close-up

Spiders are everywhere so I decided to catch a few close up and personal.
I had my lens focused on the fellow on the left when the long legged spider on the right came wandering along the web. The instant after this photo he high tailed it out of there.

This persistent wildflower has reseeded itself in this sidewalk crack year after year.

Winter Cascades

Weather forecasters are predicting a warmer, wetter winter. The Farmer's Almanac says we'll have two serious snow storms. I hope we at least have enough snow for a scene of the Cascade Mountains like this from December of 2014.

Wildflower

We bought a wildflower mix years ago and these fragile beauties keep reseeding.

Olympic Mountains in early summer

The Olympic Mountains from Oak Harbor on June 25, just a few days after summer officially started - when they still had some snow.
