The tufts on this finch indicate he hatched this spring and recently left the nest. Those "horns" will be gone soon.

Lupine

My first lupine. I am embarrassed to say that I thought these plants were weeds and not part of a wild seed mix purchased years ago. I'm glad I finally let one grow.

Ft. Ebey State Park, Whidbey Island

A great place to go on a sunny weekend is Fort Ebey State Park.
There is bluff hiking with great views of the Olympics and Admiralty Inlet.
There are lots of tables for picnics.
There are beaches for walking.
There is even a small lake in the park. I took these photos 5/22/2017.

Snail Bed and Breakfast

This fellow was enjoying a free breakfast this morning. I noticed he brought all his friends along.
I don't mind him cleaning up the old azalea blossoms, but when he heads for my vegetable starts, it's all out war.

Oak Harbor Marina

I was at Flintstone Park in Oak Harbor shortly after sunrise 5/26/2017 for this view of the Marina and Cascade Mountains.

Deer Crossing

I was out early this morning and so were others. Notice the deer crossing sign and the woman walking her dog next to it. We waited patiently until the doe and her little ones decided to finally cross the road.

Mt. Baker Sunrise

Sunrise this morning and a few moments before.
I was on the west side of Oak Harbor for this view of Mt. Baker. 5/26/2017

It was great to see several bumble bees on the Lithodora today. They've been absent in years past.

Whidbey Island Beach Homes

Sunset Beach on Whidbey Island with the Olympic Mountains in a scene from February, 2016. (I'm trying to get caught up on files I've stashed to work on later. Now it's over a year later!)

Magnolia

Our magnolia burst into color in April.
I love the color and texture of the blossoms.
The deteriorating blossoms are still fascinating.

Oak Harbor Winter

Cleaning off an SD card sitting by my computer for a few months, it was good to be reminded that we had some sunny days this winter like this one from January 3. The Oak Harbor Marina and the Cascade Mountains.

Last Tulip Standing

Another tulip season is over. I've topped all of mine except this one.

Rain Diamonds

The rain is back on Whidbey Island so what does a photographer do?

Mammatus clouds

Mammatus clouds rolling over Oak Harbor this afternoon. There are predictions of thunderstorms, usually associated with these clouds.

Windjammer Park, Oak Harbor

A still spring morning at the lagoon in Windjammer Park showing the Dutch influence of the town as well as construction on the new water treatment plant.
Horizontal composition or vertical? We like to try both.
