Arizona: Montezuma Well

Just a few miles from Montezuma Castle is Montezuma Well, named by the American troops when they first saw it. It is supplied by a naturally occurring spring and more than a million gallons a day flow through it.
Empty cliff houses, caves and ruins of stone pueblos are all that remain of the Southern Sinagua community that once flourished here. They would have used ladders or walked along the narrow ledges. The dwellings have been repaired but not rebuilt.
Between 1125 and 1400 about 100-125 people lived here.

We visited the site at the end of September, after the rains, and there were flowers galore.
